First Aid At Work – Initial

This course is certificated and assessed and meets the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety Executive regulations for first aid in the workplace.

Course Syllabus

  • Communication and giving out responsibility in an emergency
  • Resuscitation (Adult)
  • Managing an unconscious casualty
  • Treating and controlling bleeding
  • Treating burns and scalds
  • Treating injuries to bones, muscles and joints
  • Treating minor injuries
  • Treating shock
  • Treating eye injuries and rinsing out eyes
  • Poisons, gases and fumes
  • Moving injured people
  • Recognising illnesses
  • Simple record keeping

Course Duration

Minimum of 24 contract hours. This may be over 4 days, 8 half days, or any combination of hours but must, in any case, be completed within 13 weeks. Maximum of 12 candidates

First Aid At Work – Requalification

This course includes all the topics covered in the initial ‘First Aid At Work’ course but in less detail as it is expected that candidates already have the knowledge and experience.

Course Duration

Minimum of 12 contact hours. Usually over 2 days. Maximum of 12 candidates.

Emergency First Aid

The E.F.A. course is designed to meet the recommendations of the Health & Safety Executive for an appointed person in the workplace.

Course Syllabus

  • What to do in an emergency
  • Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
  • First aid for the unconscious casualty
  • First aid for the wounded or bleeding

Course duration

6 Hours. Maximum 12 candidates.

Paediatric First Aid

This course is designed for parents or child carers, with the focus being on first aid techniques specifically for babies and children.
It is a comprehensive course that includes an integrated training assessment.

  • What to do in an emergency
  • Cardio – pulmonary resuscitation
  • First aid for the unconscious child
  • First aid for a child that is wounded or bleeding
  • Respiratory disorders
  • Convulsions
  • Injuries to bones muscles and joints
  • Burns and scalds

Course Duration
12 hours. Maximum of 12 candidates.
